LETTERS FROM THE FIELD
Cheri's
E-MAIL home about her experiences in the field.
Bugs--Not the Watergate Kind
Cheri's very first experience in the field was at
a small village named Benisalaama where she
was invited to attend a wedding.
A Different Kind of Body Piercing
Cheri films a moulid and zikr which afterwards included
stick dancing and women dancing.  It took place in a
small village in the Delta called Kahf el Sheik.
Wild Ride with Bedouins:  4X4s Replace Camels
In the middle of the Lybian desert, Cheri had a
wild ride to a wedding party.
Why Women Aren't Dancing
Some of Cheri's observations and

Warning:  Some of these letters are rather long (hence, if you are in a hurry--these readings may not be for you).  Cheri's friends
and family like to hear the details of her adventures.  They are filled with insights to the culture and contain personal experiences
with the people and customs.  Cheri has collected her emails and other writings.  Her memoirs will be published soon in a book
entitled:
An American Woman Living in Egypt
Aswan:  Day One
Cheri makes friends with some Nubians and
films a Zikr (religious dance) at a Moulid (festival
celebrating the birthday of a saint.
